Burnt man rescued from jungle in Shyamnagar; Police suspect suicide attempt | Watch

A middle-aged man, identified as Vijay Pasi, was found in a severely burnt state inside a jungle near Bidhann Market in Ward 28 of Bhatpara Municipality. Local residents spotted him lying unconscious with nearly half of his body charred and immediately rushed him to the hospital. His condition remains critical. The incident took place in an area covered with dry vegetation, which had reportedly caught fire earlier in the day.

According to police sources, Vijay was physically disabled and suffered from mental distress. Locals stated that he often visited the jungle to consume alcohol. Investigators from Jagaddal police station are considering multiple possibilities, including an accident caused by the fire or a deliberate act of self-immolation.
